About Us at Center Irrigation 

Center Irrigation is made up of a small group of very dedicated people that share the same dedication in delivering a high standard to service to our customers.

The Passion behind Center Irrigation comes easily for company principal Ian Sobey.  Ian who is a third generation potato grower and who stills farms today, Ian has had a long history of involvement with water. A family movie picture shows a young boy unblocking spray heads in a potato crop at the age of six. Today over four decades later Ian is driven by passion and dedication to deliver the best irrigation options to farmers, with unmatched practical knowledge.

Ian has, over time experienced the change from hand shift pipes, to travelling irrigators and in the last two decades had vast experience with Center Pivots. This hands on experience came with a shift to a very large scale farming operation where he owned and operated twenty six centre pivots (twenty two being REINKE brand) irrigating up to 1000Ha of horticultural crop per year. This practical knowledge over a decade has made Ian probably one of the most experienced centre pivot sales person getting around today.

Ian has been instrumental in bringing the benefits of centre pivots to his home area of Ballarat to where in a short time Center Irrigation has nearly fifty centre pivots working with in a short half hour drive of their base. This has brought the biggest single change to Ballarat farmers since the start of irrigation. Local farmers have been only been to happy to accept Ian’s experience which has made the adaptation of this change in irrigation practice an easy process.

Today Ian travels extensively through out Victoria and New South Wales. Center Irrigation is based at Ballarat Victoria and has recently opened a base in Deniliquin NSW which will make it easier to service our ever expanding area. Center Irrigation has also Sub-dealers based in Coleambally NSW, Albury NSW and Numurkah Victoria.
